State Senator Javier Loera Cervantes speaks in a committeeCHICAGO – State Senator Javier Loera Cervantes released the following statement on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s denial of disaster assistance for a number of Illinois counties following August’s severe line of storms:

“I am disappointed to see that FEMA has denied Illinois’ request for the assistance our residents need and deserve. Despite the severe storms’ negative impacts on many residents’ lives, the federal government refuses to help with the recovery.

“As we continue to recover from the devastation of the storms, I vow to assist residents in bouncing back from the damage caused by severe weather – from answering questions to providing informational resources. We are stronger as a community than as individuals, and we will keep standing together and supporting each other in the wake of this severe weather event.”
